As for projects events have specific performance requirements, which means that they need to be delivered on time and within specific budget boundaries.
In this view, events could be seen as a series of tasks that need to be completed in a chronological sequence.
These tasks or packages could be organized in a method called Work Breakdown Structure.
According to the complexity of the event you need to manage you might consider adopting a WBS. Most of the time for small conferences and meeting it helps a lot to map the processes, assign tasks and control the timing of the event.
