@Jo you are more than welcome to post jobs on the Event Planning & Management Group on Linkedin, just click on the link on your right hand side.

@Andy I don't agree with you either, Barcamps of more than 400 people have been done with outstanding results in terms of content produced as it was user generated. To me it is like thinking that the guys at a big corporation could decide what is better for me to install on my browser. No way I choose Firefox and I decide my extensions.

Great speakers as well as great content will always be there and I have seen them participating spontaneously at Barcamps.

Therefore I see a big shift ahead and it is not towards people deciding for me, but me deciding for me.

That sounds really good! Think I become a Meet Up fan as well! I'm not sure, if I'm at the right place here, but I have something really interestung about eventmanagement careers: There is a good opportunity for young eventmanagers in Hamburg, a 6 month trainee programm, that offers good experiences and is fair paid! more on my blog. cheers * Jo

Hi Julius. As you know I organise the London Bloggers Social event using Meetup. It is a truly fantastic resource for finding an audience, promoting your event, communicating with your audience, generating feedback and ideas and much more. It has helped enormously getting this membership based group off the ground.

I don't necessarily agree with your comments about not needing content producers though. They play a vital role in larger, content driven conferences / events.
