Shakespeak Brings Easy Voting to Presentations

March 7, 2011   |   AUTHOR: Julius Solaris   |   POSTED IN: event technology

This idea is so simple, effective and easy to implement, that you just have to hit the share button and let as many colleagues as possible know about it.

What it is: Shakespeak is a plugin for PowerPoint (Keynote coming soon) that enables the audience to vote on your slide content.

What makes it quite nice is that you can vote via Twitter or SMS.

A big plus, as they put it, is the ease of use:

It takes a 20-second software download and a toolbar gets automatically integrated in your
PowerPoint.

From here the presenter can start adding votes, run a test session and in the end go live
on stage.

No on-site support is requested, although Shakespeak does offer this additional service to
those users that indicate that their presentation carry a heavy load of interest.

It was developed here in Europe by some talented Dutch guys. I loved the way they approached death by Powerpoint by keeping the privacy of the vote.

It is free to use for sessions with up to 20 participants so give it a whirl and let me know what you think.

Thanks for sharing a new tool – I am having trouble getting it to function using ppt on a Mac.
What do you see as the major difference between Shakespeak and Polleverywhere?
    Just curious :)

    Hi Midori,

thanks for your comment. No major difference (as for the hundreds of event registration services I guess).

They are based in Europe and to some of us it can make a difference. Another factor to consider is the ease of use.

According to what you tell me it is not working alright, although I suggest pinging @shakespeak on Twitter as they are very helpful and responsive.

    Hi Midori,

With Poll Everywhere, there’s nothing to download and you can present with either a Mac or a PC. You can also present straight from the website. There’s PPT for Windows Integration, Keynote Integration (still in beta but it works) and a dashboard widget for macs that works as well. Poll Everywhere is also currently working on Prezi integration as well.

The pricing structure is different with the two companies as well.

    I hope this helps!

I actually use Poll Everywhere extensively…in particular to unify results from a remote and face-to-face audience. I love its ease of use and pricing, and also a fan of their support of educators (deep discounts for academia).
Was just interested in whether or not you saw any major differences/benefits to using Shakespeak.
    Thanks again!!!
